Mabel is a three year old black show cocker spaniel who came to CAESSR from a back street breeding establishment in a home with twelve other dogs. She was covered in flea dermatitis which is now on the mend.
Mabel's main problem is cataracts the right eye is totally covered leaving her blind in the eye the left eye also has a cataract giving her restricted vision with that eye also. Mabel has been referred to a specialist vet in Derby for treatment which has been estimated at £4485.00.
Prior to treatment she was taken for another health check and was found to have a heart problem - pulmonic stenosis. She needs heart surgery first which may or may not allow her to go on and have the eye surgery. The generous donations so far made have enabled us to book Mabel in for the heart surgery on November 22nd at a cost of £3000.
Good News! Mabel is back home after her heart operation and all went very well. While she was at the veterinary hospital the eye specialist visited her and she should be fit enough to have her cataracts removed on December 21st.
Please help Mabel to live as near to normal life as possible.
Hi all. Photos of Mabel after her cataract surgery(23/12). Prior to this over the past 4 months she had only barked 4 single barks, today she announced how happy she was to see and we experienced barks and howls of joy accompanied by the waggiest tail. She has sat watching the Christmas tree lights flash on and off and has stood at the window watching the world outside. A merry Christmas and thanks to all at Caessr and the kind dog lovers who have donated to the Mabel fund and support this wonderful charity. Special thanks also to the veterinary team at the Willows Veterinary Referral Centre who have treated Mabel. You have all given Mabel a new life. Love and best wishes to you all and your little friends. Xxxxx
