Spaniels that have found their new forever homes during this month
Butch is a 2 year old golden working type cocker. He was handed in at the local dogs home with another older cocker as his owner was being evicted. Butch has seen our vet for a health check and has been vaccinated and groomed. We know little of his history but he behaved well at the vets. He growls and barks at other dogs but his tail wags at the same time! We think that he doesn't like cats. He travelled well in the car.
Walter is a 5 1/2 year old Blue Roan show type cocker. His owners are now elderly and have health issues and can't give Walter the life that he deserves. Walter is used the the owners grand-children. He is used to cats and has lived with another dog. He is good on and off the lead. Walter has a rare genetic condition on his left eye that needs medication. He travels well in the car and can be left for short periods.
Chester is a 9 month old small Black and White Springer. He has been rescued by an elderly couple from a family where he was bought for a child. The couple have started his house training. He is a boisterous, affectionate dog, who needs more socialisation both with people and other dogs and he would benefit by being taken to puppy clases.
Jenson is a 17 month old Black and White Springer. He needs a new home as one of his owner's is poorly. Jenson is a very excitable young dog who can jump extremely high. He is great with children and not bad with other dogs. He seems to prefer ladies to menfolk and is good with the kennel staff. He really dislikes cats and he dislikes noisy vehicles. Jenson loves his walks but pulls on the lead. His recall is quite good. He loves his food and toys and close contact with people. He does have separation anxiety issues. He is quite good when travelling in the car. Jenson has an allergic reaction to some flea treatments.
Lola and Rocky are show type cockers. Lola is nearly 7 years old and is golden. Rocky is 5 years old and is sable. They are looking for a new home together as the owner's toddler is very allergic to dogs. They are really good with children and are good with other dogs but have no cat experience. Lola is quite independent and will growl at Rocky if he goes near her food bowl. Rocky is an affectionate dog who can steal socks! Sadly, Rocky has an enlarged heart and his condition is managed with medication. He may not have too long to live but he enjoys life as a normal spaniel. Both dogs pull on the lead a bit but have good recall. They can be left just for short periods. Rocky is a good traveller but Lola does not enjoy it much. A special home is sought for Lola & Rocky.
