Spaniels that have found their new forever homes during this month
Isla is an 18 month old liver & white springer. Her owners are expecting another child and there is to be a career change so Isla will not be given the attention and exercise required for such an energetic young springer. Isla is used to children and is good with other dogs. She has not lived with a cat. She pulls a lot on the lead. When off lead she likes to chase birds and doesn't always come back to call immediately. She travels well in the car and can be left for short periods.
Max is a 2 year old black working type cocker with white on his chest. His owner is a pensioner suffering with arthritis and can no longer look after him. He needs lots more activity and stimulation. Max had a bad experience a few months ago with a larger dog. He wasn't hurt but it has left him a bit uneasy when he's on the lead. He is good with the owner's grandson who plays with him - hiding things for him to find. He has no cat experience. He is quite good on the lead and his recall is good. He travels well in the car and can be left for short periods.
Eva is almost 2 years old and is a red & white springer x cocker. She needs a new home due to her owner's ill health. Eva is used to children. She loves to play with other dogs but she has no cat experience. She is good on and off the lead. She travels well in the car but can bark with excitement. She can be left home alone for short periods.
Jack is a 5 1/2 year old liver & white springer. His owner is now working longer hours and Jack is being left with the owner's Mum who is elderly and has mobility issues. Jack is bored and he is now being territorial at times towards Mum and showing his teeth. He can also be posessive with items that he picks up off the floor - Mum can't cope. Jack hasn't had contact with children. He either ignores or wants to play with other dogs on walks and he doesn't take much notice of cats. He pulls on the lead but is better walked on a harness. His recall is good. He travels well in the car and can be left for short periods. CAESSR is looking for an experienced home for Jack and behaviourist help will be available. Jack weighed 35kg when he came to us. He needed grooming and behaved very well at the groomers. He had to be muzzled at the vets but we believe that the cause was extremely sore ears. His ears have been cleared under anaesthetic and he is now enjoying his walks with the kennel staff and volunteers.
Beauty and Flo are both Black Springer X Cocker Spaniels with White on their chests. Beauty is an 18 month old male and Flo is a 9 month old female. They have come to CAESSR as their owner has sadly passed away. The two dogs were found beside their owner. They were very traumatised when they arrived, but now seem to be lovely dogs. We don't know much of their history, but they seem to be very bonded. Beauty and Flo are looking for a new home together.
Billy is almost 8 years old and is a black & white working type cocker. Billy has been a working gun dog but he doesn't want to work anymore and he has started to fight with the two other male spaniels at his home. As a consequence, he stays in an outside kennel while everyone is out and he is howling and barking. Billy used to live inside and was house trained. He is a gentle dog who is used to children. He hasn't lived with a cat. He is good on and off lead and travels well in the car.
Molly is almost 8 years old and is an orange roan show type cocker. Her owner is working full time and says it is not fair for Molly to be left alone so long. Molly is used to children and has lived with a springer in the past. She can be a bit "yappy" when meeting other dogs on walks. She pulls a bit on the lead and her recall may need more training. She can be left for short periods and she travels well in the car.
Rivo is a 4 year old Black and White springer. His family are currently living in rented accommodation and the landlord has changed their contract so they cannot keep a dog. Rivo is used to children and is good with other dogs. He has no cat experience. He pulls on a normal lead but walks well on a shoulder harness. He has amazing recall. He travels well in the car and can be left for short periods.
