Spaniels that have found their new forever homes during this month
Eddie is a Black and White 6 month old Springer puppy, who has come to CAESSR from a gundog home. He is extremely timid and is in need of a home as a family pet.
Lucky is a 22 month old Liver and White Springer. He needs a new home as the owners' children cannot walk him as he pulls a lot on the lead. He also has run at other dogs when he has been off his lead and been aggressive towards them. He has not been socialised properly with other dogs when a puppy. He has quite a dominant personality, but we have found at our base that once he gets to know another dog he will play happily with that dog. He loves to play with balls and toys. He is fantastic with people and older children, but he hasn't lived with a cat. He travels well in the car. Lucky can be left for a few hours. He is house trained and sleeps inside, but has spent time outside during the day when his family were not at home.
Barney is a 16 month old Golden show type Cocker. He needs a new home as he is fighting with his litter brother. He is a very much loved dog, but the two brothers constantly fight and need to lead separate lives. Barney has had no experience of children or with cats. He does not like being picked up and will growl a bit, but he probably associates this with being separated from a fight with his brother. He has also been grumpy when tired. Barney is good with other dogs when outside the home. He is generally good when on the lead. He hasn't been off lead very much recently as he and his brother have run off and wouldn't listen to commands. He can be left for short periods and has been sick in the past on a long car journey.
Jazz is a 9 year old Liver and White Springer. Her owner took Jazz over from her sister, who was expecting a baby, however due to full-time work she feels that she cannot give Jazz the time and company she deserves. Neighbours have reported that she barks when left alone. Jazz loves humans and is OK with older children, but doesn't like being fussed by younger children. She has growled at a 9 year old. She is used to other dogs, cats and livestock. She is excitable on the lead but walks best on a harness. She is very good off lead. She travels well in the car once settled.
Harvey is a 4 year old Black show type Cocker with a little White blaze on his chest. The owner's husband is ill and the family also have an elderly parent coming to live with them. Harvey is looking for an experienced owner with no children or visiting young children. He would be best managed by someone who understands dominant dogs - although Harvey can be nervous at times. He needs to be kept off the sofa. He can growl if grabbed by his collar, but he has never bitten. He is a very loving dog, who craves human companionship. Harvey pulls on the lead. He has a good recall and won't loose you. He is good with other dogs, but has not lived with a cat. He can be left for short periods. Harvey travels well in the car, but can growl if you need to lift him in.
Bob is a 2.5 year old Black and White Springer X Cocker whose owner was threatened with eviction if he didn't get rid of his dog. Bob was left outside in his kennel during the day, when his owner was at work - he was kept on a chain. He was barking and being protective of his space and causing a disturbance to the neighbours. Bob is house trained and used to come into the home when his owners were there. He has not met children. He is good with other dogs, but will chase cats. He walks well on the lead - just pulling initially with excitement. His recall is good to a whistle. He is a brilliant traveller.
Gin is about 4 years old and is a Liver and White Springer. Her owners rescued her from a puppy farm about 18 months ago and since then she has progressed very well. She is now house trained and follows her owner around. She now walks well on a harness. She still doesn't like anything around her neck and won't have a lead clipped onto a collar. The problem now is that Gin's owner has four noisy young children and Gin can wee with nerves when they are all present. She is good with them one at a time - she needs a quieter environment. She would possibly be best as an only dog as she is happier when on her own with her owner when the children and their other dog stay with their Dad. Gin is good when off lead and won't loose you. She can be left for short periods, but is used to being left with the other dog. She travels OK but she is a bit timid.
Maggie is a 2 year old Cocker x Lurcher, who has come to CAESSR via Battersea Dogs Home. She is mainly Black with a White chest. She is a sweet natured dog and very intelligent. She needs a lot of stimulation. She runs like the wind! Maggie is socialising well with the other dogs at our base, however, when on the lead she will bark, growl and lunge at other dogs. This started a year ago when a German Shepherd leapt on her during an evening walk. Maggie can walk past other dogs if under control of a confident handler. She has had contact with an 8 year old visiting child and was good with him. She has lived with two cats, but will chase them in play. Her recall will possibly need some more work as her previous owner was not confident to let her off lead. She can be left for short periods, but gets distressed if left for more than three hours. She travelled well on her journey to CAESSR.
