Spaniels that have found their new forever homes during this month
Maisie is an 11 month old Liver and White Springer. She needs a new home as she has started to fight with her litter sister. She is a timid dog and gets worried if a stranger goes to stroke her. During her short life, Maisie has had a major water infection and was diagnosed with lung-worm. However, she is now fit and well and the vet is happy with her progress. Maisie is used to children, but has not lived with a cat. She has a fantastic recall. She will pull on the lead, if allowed, but will heel if you tell her. She travels well in the car.
Oscar is a 4½ year old Show type Chocolate Roan Cocker with Tan markings. He needs a new home due to a change in family circumstances. Due to the troubles in his home (where Oscar has shown aggression a couple of times) he has been living with the owner's parents. The parents are in poor health and cannot give Oscar the walks that he deserves. He has behaved very well with them. He seems to like a quiet home. He does have some separation anxiety when left home alone. Oscar is used to teenage children. He would possibly be OK with cats. He is wary of some dogs as he was attacked badly by a Terrier and has been chased by a Lurcher. He walks quite well on the lead and wont loose you if he is off lead. He travels well in the car.
Rolo is an 11 month old Liver and White Springer. He comes to CAESSR having had three homes already in his short life. His first family had to move into rented accommodation. Another family had a toddler and Rolo had not had previous experience of children. This resulted in the child's hand being bitten - the child had been eating chocolate. Rolo is good with cats and other dogs. He pulls a lot on the lead and needs some training. Off lead, his training is going well and he does come back when called. He tends to be an excitable traveller and hasn't had much experience. He can be left home alone for short periods.
Rosie is a 3½ year old Liver and White Springer. She needs a new home due to a change in family circumstances. Rosie is loyal, loving and playful. She is used to children of all ages. She is used to cats and other dogs and would love to share a home with another dog. She tends to pull on the lead, but can walk nicely. She loves running free and will come back when called, but may take her time if she is engrossed in serious sniffing! She loves to swim. She travels well in the car and can be left for short periods.
Milo is a 10 year old Liver and White Springer, who is good with children and other dogs, but has not lived with a cat. His owner is seriously ill and his owner's wife cannot cope. He seems to be very much a man's dog. Milo has lived both inside and outside. He really prefers to be outside. He is house trained. He is a medium sized Springer, but is a bit chunky. He is good in the car, but can be a bit noisy!
Alfie is a 3½ year old Black and Tan Cocker Spaniel. He is possibly part working type and part show. His owners are expecting another child and as the husband works abroad a lot Alfie is not getting the attention he needs. He is very good with children and is friendly with other dogs. He has not lived with a cat. He can wee with excitement when meeting new people. He walks well on a halti lead and he is good when off lead. He loves to play ball. He travels well in the car and can be left home alone for short periods.
Bailey is just 7 years old and is a Liver and White Springer. His family's situation is sad. The man of the house has passed away. The daughter is in hospital for another 18 months and the lady of the house needs to work long hours. Bailey is a lovely friendly boy, who is used to children, but doesn't like noisy young ones. He is generally good with other dogs, but has not lived with a cat. His recall is brilliant, but he does still pull on the lead. Unfortunately, Bailey does have Addison's disease that is being controlled with medication (CAESSR can help with the cost). He travels well in the car and can be left home alone for short periods. Bailey is in a CAESSR foster home, at present, and is urgently looking for a permanent new home.
His Foster carer writes:
He has lived with 3 dogs for most of his time with me and two of them were males. After initial aggression they all got on so well, and he has totally mellowed. When walking he would try to dominate and show aggression to other dogs but again he is a joy round other dogs now. He is great with my 10 yr old daughter. He likes to go off exploring but I have got him coming back to a whistle and his lead walking has improved. His basic training has improved as well. He's full of life and jumps for joy when he see you or at walking time. He has been sleeping in a kennel with my dogs but does love to be all over you when we are watching tv. I think he has always been an inside dog. He will pinch food off the work tops if you back is turned, which I am working with him on - he ate a full loaf the other day! His Addisons doesnt hamper him in anyway he acts younger than 7. Bailey has gone from a sad grumpy/aggressive dog to a friendly happy mad as a hatter dog, who could be homed with other dogs now, because he loves the company.
Scooby is a two year old Blue Roan Cocker Spaniel. He needs a new home due to a change in family circumstances. Scooby is a really gentle, affectionate dog. He is very good around people, children and other dogs. He has not lived with a cat. He is well trained when on lead, but his recall needs more practice as he will only come back when he is ready. Scooby travels well in the car. He doesn't like being left home alone much and whimpers so needs a home where someone is around most of the time.
