Spaniels that have found their new forever homes during this month

MARLEY

MARLEY

Marley is a 4½ year old small Black working type Cocker. His owners have a baby and can no longer give him the exercise that he previously enjoyed. Marley is a lovely boy who is used to children and he loves company. He is good with other dogs, but has not lived with a cat. He is a very active dog, who has done some agility in the past and loved it. He has a bad habit of eating socks and chewing his bedding. He has recently had surgery to remove an obstruction in his stomach. He pulls on the lead. His recall is brilliant. He travels well in the car and can be left for short periods.

PENNY

PENNY

Penny is just 8 years old and is a Liver and White show type Springer. She needs a new home as her owner is now disabled and also Penny is fighting with another female Springer in her home. She is a lovely dog, who likes lots of cuddles and enjoys long walks in the country or on the beach. Penny would be best as the only dog in the home, although she is fine with the other dogs at our base. She has had no interaction with children, but would be OK with teenagers. She has not lived with a cat. She pulls initially on the lead and is then better and is best walked on a halti lead. Her recall is good. She travels well in the car and can be left for short periods.

OTIS

OTIS

Otis is a 2½ year old Black show type Cocker. He needs a new home as he is fighting with a male Shih Tzu that he is now living with. Otis originally belonged to the owner's Mum, who became ill and could no longer care for him. He is used to children. He may need to be the only dog in the home. He has not lived with a cat. He is a well behaved dog, who pulls a little at first on the lead. He loves his runs in the field and will come back when called. He travels well in the car and can be left for short periods.

MAGGIE

MAGGIE

Maggie is almost two years old and is a Red show type Cocker. Maggie lives with four young children and she nipped two of them during the half-term holiday. The children were playing excitedly with empty lemonade bottles and Maggie was hit with the bottle. She is a really highly strung dog and is in need of a quiet home away from children and visiting young ones. She is used to cats. She is very good with a friends Collie and Husky and loves to play with them. She loves her teddies and soft toys, but chews the children's plastic toys. Maggie likes to sleep upstairs on the landing. She pulls a bit on the lead and her recall is good most of the time. She loves travelling in the car. She likes to sit in the children's car-seat strapped in. She can be left home alone for short periods.

JAY (was JJ)

JAY (was JJ)

JJ is a 2 year old Black and White working type Cocker. He needs a new home as his owner now has ill health. JJ is a partly trained gundog, He is used to children and good with other dogs. He sleeps in an outside kennel. He pulls a bit on the lead and his recall is trained to whistle. He is a lovely friendly dog.

MAX

MAX

Max is a 7 year old Liver and White Springer - more Liver than White. He used to live on a farm with acres of fields to run in, but due to family circumstances he is now living in a terraced house with just a yard. He is being left home alone all day as his owner works full time. Max is a lovely Spaniel, who enjoys lots of attention. He is very well behaved. He needs some training for walking on a lead. He is very strong and pulls. If off lead, he will come back eventually, so this also needs some work. He hasn't had much socialisation with children or with other dogs. He hasn't travelled much in a car, but he is OK in a travel cage when his dog groomer collects him. Max doesn't like being left home alone - he cries. He is now being socialised with other dogs at our kennels.

We are now looking for a permanent foster home for Max. He was taken ill (we thought he had had a stroke) and spent 4 days at the veterinary hospital. Max has Progressive Arthritis in his front knee joints that affected his immune system. He is now on medication and is recovering well. He is a lovely Spaniel with a lovely temperament, who loves lots of fuss and attention. Swimming or hydro-therapy would be a good treatment for Max.

Max is now fully recovered - he spent half-term in a foster home and he was a delight to have as a guest. He just wanted to please and would make a great family pet.

DYSON and SOPHIE

DYSON and SOPHIE

Dyson and Sophie are 6 year old show type Cockers. Both have docked tails. Dyson is Black and Sophie is Gold with White paws and a small White blaze on her chest. They are a bonded pair who sleep together in a large basket in the kitchen. They are looking for a home together as their owner is moving back to Spain. Dyson and Sophie were rehomed by the present owner in Spain when they were three years old. Dyson loves lots of fuss and is good with people and other dogs. Sophie is a little more wary until she gets to know new people and she can be a little grumpy with strange dogs. They are used to the owners' teenage grandchildren. They have not lived with a cats. They tend to pull on the lead and will come back eventually if off lead. They travel well in the car. When left home alone, Dyson will sometimes whine.

JACK

JACK

Jack is a 3 1/2 year old golden working type cocker. A special home is required for him as he is blind. His owners now have a crawling baby and although Jack is very tolerant and gentle around the baby, the fact that he will knock her over accidentally when she starts to walk is a real hazard. Jack is a typical lively working type Spaniel. He lives with his doggy Mum who plays with him and causes him to crash into things! Jack gets very excited when visitors come to his home. He has not lived with a cat. He has stayed with friends when his family went on holiday and he is very outgoing in nature & soon found his way around. Jack hates traffic - a rural home would be best. He is not good on the lead and is walked on a halti. If off lead he runs around in circles until he knows an area well. Then he is just like any other dog off-lead except that you need to keep talking so that he knows where you are. He returns best if you whisper his name. He travels well in the car and can be left for short periods but he has always had another dog for company.
