Spaniels that have found their new forever homes during this month

ALFIE

Alfie is a 3.5 year old Liver and White Springer X Cocker. He looks like a small Springer. His family have two other dogs and four cats and cannot give Alfie the time and exercise that he needs. Alfie was their daughter's dog, but she couldn't keep him as she moved into rented accommodation. Alfie has not met young children. He is good with the other dogs and cats. He pulls on the lead. His current owners have not let him off lead so his recall may need training. Alfie travels well in the car and can be left for short periods.

SEBASTIAN

SEBASTIAN

Sebastian (Sebbie) is a 3 year old Golden show type Cocker. His owners have recently had a baby and are struggling to manage two dogs. Sebbie needs more human company, exercise and attention. He is good with the baby and with the other dog, but has no cat experience. When being walked he is excited initially and pulls a bit. His recall is good. He travels well in the car, but must not travel too soon after a meal. He behaves well when left for a short period, but has always had the company of another dog.

BAILEY

BAILEY

Bailey is just 6 years old and is a Black working type Cocker with a White patch on his chest. There is a new baby granddaughter, who is living in the home and Bailey cannot cope with the new situation. He isn't used to young children. He is protesting at being put in his cage at night and he is barking at visiting menfolk all of which is out of character for him. He has lived all his life in the same home. Bailey has not lived with another dog, but is fine with those he meets outside the home. He has no cat experience. He can pull on the lead, but is OK if kept on a short lead. He has brilliant recall. He travels well in the car using a doggy seat-belt and can be left for short periods.

ARNIE

ARNIE

Arnie is a 5 year old Springer X Cocker X Poodle and he is Black and White. He is not friendly to the dogs who live next door. His owner recently took on another dog and Arnie is unable to share his owner with this other needy dog. He has lots of love to give to a new owner and he is a very loyal dog. He needs an experienced home and behaviourist help is available. He pulls initially on the lead and is then better. He is brilliant off the lead and doesn't go far from you and he loves to play at fetching his ball. He travels well in the car and can be left for short periods.

Arnie has now been with CAESSR a while and is urgent for a new home. He may not win a prize for his looks, but he is a very cheeky little dog and is behaving well with the other dogs at the kennels.

AMBER

AMBER

Amber is a 4 year old Blue Roan and Tan show type Cocker. Her owners are both poorly and unable to continue to care for her properly. Amber is a lovely little dog, who is used to children and cats and she is good with other dogs. She is quite enthusiastic on the lead and doesn't pull much and her recall is good. She travels well in the car.

Since coming to CAESSR we have realised that Amber has had a very sheltered life. She suffers badly with separation anxiety and wants to be with you all the time. She howls when you leave the room. She is beginning to enjoy walks into the countryside, but she is forever on the lookout for another dog and pulls towards that dog. She also enjoys the company of the other dogs at our base. We are looking for a family, who already have a dog and are around most of the time and have the patience to sort out her issues.

ALFIE

ALFIE

Alfie is a 6.5 year old Black working type Cocker. His family cannot give him the time and exercise he requires as they have a toddler and a new baby due soon. Alfie is good with the toddler. He is good with other dogs, but has not lived with a cat. He pulls at first on the lead with excitement. When off lead he doesn't always come back if another dog is around. He travels well in the car and can be left for short periods.

Since coming to CAESSR we have realised that Alfie is almost completely deaf. He is an energetic working Cocker who loves his food and will steal food off work-tops and plates. He also has not been taught to keep off furniture. However, he does watch you and responds to hand-signals. Alfie is looking for an experienced and very patient home with owners that can teach him some manners. He has a lovely nature, but needs a lot of work. We need someone to come forward, who would enjoy the challenge.

NELSON

NELSON

Nelson (Nellie) is a 4 year old Black working type Cocker with a white streak on his chest. His owner has fractured her spine and can no longer give him the active home that he requires. Nellie doesn't tolerate very young boisterous puppies and he will eventually put them in their place. He is not used to children or cats, but he is good with other dogs. He knows how to walk to heel, but you must be firm. His recall may need a little more work - he can disappear if he is following a scent. He travels well in the car and can be left for short periods.

TOBY

TOBY

Toby is a 9.5 year old Liver and White springer. He used to live on a farm with his companion Leo until a couple of years ago and used to ride on the tractor when rounding up cattle. However, his owners now work full-time and he was living outside in a kennel prior to coming to CAESSR. Toby is used to children and good with other dogs. He is extremely thin and after being groomed he went to see our vet. He had an eye infection, a temperature and a very smelly mouth. He has had his teeth cleaned and a skin growth in his mouth removed plus X-rays. He has been found to have a small liver and still needs more investigation. He is now eating well. We are urgently looking for a loving retirement home for Toby.
