Spaniels that have found their new forever homes during this month
Max is 10 years old and is a Liver and White medium sized Springer. He recently had two benign lumps removed. The owner left him outside permanently and his wounds got infected. After having his wounds cleaned and restitched the owner asked the vet to put him to sleep as she hadnt time to look after him. The vet, refusing to put a healthy dog down, contacted us. Max is the most friendly dog, still quite fit, without the over activity of a younger dog. He could do with losing a bit of weight and a good grooming. He is currently at the home of one our volunteers who is Vet Nurse so his wounds can be looked after until healed. This lovely, gentle lad needs a good loving home soon as he has missed out on such a lot of love.
Alfie is a Liver and White Springer. who was three years old in December. He was taken on by his owners at 7 months old, having been passed from home to home, as people could not cope with a boisterous Springer pup. Sadly they now need a new home for Alfie both have health problems and are finding it hard to give hime the exercise he needs. His owners have undertaken a lot of training and he is excellent off-lead. He was a bad shadow chaser and although he still does it he is much better. He ie put in the hallway if he starts and he stops immediately. Alfie has not lived with children, but likes to be patted when he meets them out walking. He really lovess people. He has no cat experience, but is good with his other doggie friends, althogh wary of some large dogs. He travels well in the car. He has had a small cancerous lump removed from his leg. Although the vet thinks he removed it all the area will need to be checked regularly.
Holly is an 8 week old Tan Cocker Spaniel pup. She was bought from a pet shop by her owners, who then decided that they didn't want a dog. They didn't want to take her back to the pet shop.
Harry is a Black and Tan Cocker, aged 4. He belonged to someone who was planning on taking him to the vets to be put to sleep. One of our volunteers asked if she could take Harry and arranged for him to be re-homed. Audrey from the kennels, being an expert on the breed gave Harry a check over and passed him physically very fit. All Harry needs is a good grooming. He is a lovely friendly dog. We dont know anything about his background so would suggest that he needs a family with no other pets or children.
Ruby is a 20 month old, Black and White Springer with her full tail - she is more White than Black. She needs a new home due to a change in family circumstances. She has not lived with children or cats, but loves people and gets excited if she meets children. She has not been socialised much with other dogs and she has never been allowed off lead - her owner was too worried about her not coming back. She is house trained and travels well in the car.
Samson is a 7¾ year old Liver and White Springer Spaniel with his full tail. He is a very friendly boy who is used to children from 16 months old. He lives with a cat, but will chase strange cats. He is good with other dogs, but has no livestock experience. Samson pulls on the lead, however, his recall is good and he travels well in the car. He needs a new home due to a change in family circumstances and he is being left home alone for long hours and not getting the attention and exercise he needs. He is a little over weight, but is a very pleasant boy.
Bramble is a 2½ year old Liver and White Springer / Cocker X. He is good with children and other dogs, but has not lived with a cat or had any livestock experience. He is a well trained dog, with a good recall and he has achieved his Gold Standard Good Citizen Award. He is a good traveller. Bramble needs a new home as his owners are soon to be emigrating.
