Spaniels that have found their new forever homes during this month
Ruben is a 4 month old black & white springer x cocker. He needs a new home as the other dogs in the family are not happy with his arrival. His training has been started but he will need owners who are around most of the time and have the time to continue his training.
Stella is an 8 year old Liver and White Springer. She needs a new home as her gamekeeper owner has lost his job and has to move into accommodation where he cannot keep pets. Stella is a very loyal companion and is a well behaved dog, who was still working up to last season. She is not house trained, but is very clean in her kennel. She is used to living outside, but would convert to an inside pet life. She is good with children, cats and other dogs and is OK around livestock. Stella is good on and off the lead and travels well in the car. She needs some dental work before rehoming.
Roxy Red is a beautiful 5 year old working type Cocker. She has not enjoyed the arrival of a young child in the family and there is also a baby expected. Roxy Red has been separated a lot from the family, especially when friends with young children visit and this is not fair. She would prefer a home with no children. She loves human company and would be cuddled, walked and played with all day. She loves to play with a tennis ball and will walk for miles. She is slightly deaf - this was tested when she was younger. She is good when off lead. She stays close and comes back the instant she is signalled. She will walk to heel on lead if told. Roxy Red will chase cats if they run. She is OK with the other dogs that she lives with but can be a bit grouchy with other dogs on first meeting but okay when she gets to know them. She is a brilliant traveller and can be left for short periods, but does howl initially. Her owners say that she would suit a retired active person or couple.
BARNEY is a 7 year old blue roan working type cocker. He needs a new home due to growth of family and a change in working circumstances. His family is unable to give him the attention and walks that he previously enjoyed. Barney is used to children and good with other dogs but hasn't lived with a cat. He is a well behaved, friendly dog who likes his food. He will let you know when he is hungry and when he needs walking. He can pester for food when you are eating! Barney is very good when off-lead & only pulls a little when on the lead. He travels well in the car and can be left for short periods. Barney has slight arthritis in his front left leg and occasionally needs medication to ease discomfort. He will need regular normal exercise and to be kept trim and not allowed to get over-weight.
Meg is almost three years old and is a Liver and White Springer. She needs a new home due to her owner's new work commitments. Meg is a friendly dog, who has lived mainly outside and is trained to the whistle. She has not lived with children or cats, but is good with other dogs. She travels well in the car.
Oliver is about 10 years old and is a Blue Roan show type Cocker. He belongs to an elderly lady, who is now hospitalised and was taken to a vets to be put to sleep. Oliver is a very pleasant friendly dog, who seems to "talk" to you. He is house trained and travels well in the car. He has been to our vet for a health check and vaccination - all was OK. He just needs some dental work prior to rehoming.
Molly is a 2 year old Black and White Springer X with a docked tail, who needs a new home as her owner is now working full time. Molly is being destructive when left as she is getting bored - recently she has started to destroy the settee. Molly needs lots of exercise and is fine with other dogs. She lives with a small dog and protects him on walks. She has not lived with a cat. She has not lived with children, but is friendly with them when out on walks. Molly walks better on a halti lead and is very lively when off lead and her recall is very good. she travels well in the car.
Arabella and Charlie are very bonded show type Cockers. Arabella is 7 years old and is Blue Roan and Charlie is 8 years old and is Orange Roan. Their owner is poorly and can no longer look after them. They were handed in at a kennels, that had been flooded so thay have come urgently to CAESSR. We know nothing of their history, but they seem to be very lovely, friendly dogs. They are being taken to our vets for health checks and vaccinations and then will be groomed as they are in a terrible state. Further information to follow.
Vet's Report: Charlie has an ear infection. He has had his ears cleaned and has some ear-drops - otherwise all OK. Arabella has had litters of puppies in the past and needs some dental work - otherwise all OK. Both travelled well in the car and behaved well with our teen-aged helper. Both have now been groomed. When groomed, Charlie was found to have a grass seed between his toes. This is now sorted. Arabella has had twelve teeth taken out. Both are recovering well.
