Spaniels that have found their new forever homes during this month
Max is a 2 1/2 year old chocolate working type cocker with white on his chest. He needs a new home as his owner's family commitments mean that Max is left far too long home alone. Max is a nervous dog who is initially scared of everything and everybody. He cowers away from people until he gets to know them. Our behaviourist and kennel staff have been working with him and he isĀ now looking for an experienced and patient home. He is OK with the older children that he lives with but he needs a quiet home away from visiting young children. He has no cat experience and will hide behind his owner when he meets another dog when out walking. He pulls a bit on the lead and hasn't had much experience off lead. He travels well in the car and can be left for short periods.
Bella is a 5 year old liver & white springer spaniel. Her family are unable to cope with her high energy levels. One of her owners is now disabled and the other can't manage her on the lead as she pulls terribly. Bella is brilliant with children. She lives with three young boys. She is used to cats and OK around other dogs. However, she won't play - she just wants to run. Bella has fantastic recall when off lead. Bella howls if put in the kitchen to sleep. She seems to prefer to sleep in an outhouse. She is always on the go and won't relax and have a sleep in the day. She travels well in the car and can be left home alone just for a couple of hours.
Toby is a 6 1/2 year old black & white springer spaniel. Toby's family have a young baby who has multiple allergies and unfortunately he has an allergy to Toby. Toby is an amazing dog and his owners are very sad that he will need a new home. He spends his days going to the office with his owners. He is very good at the office and has met other people's children and he is very good around the baby. He has no cat experience He hasn't been around many other dogs and can be a bit wary sometimes if on lead. He is walked in very rural areas. His behaviour off lead is very good and he comes back on command. He travels well in the car and can be left for short periods.
Billy is just 7 years old and is a chocolate working type cocker with ginger markings on his face and paws. His owner has started to work full time and Billy has started barking when left home alone. Billy is good with visiting young grandchildren. He is good with other dogs but has no cat experience. He walks well on a lead. His owner uses a harness. His recall is good. He travels well in the car.
Poppy is a 4 1/2 year old liver & white springer who is looking for a new life as a pet. She has been trained as a working gun-dog but she is not suitable. Poppy has a fairly nervous personality and would benefit from being the only dog in the home receiving all of the fuss and attention.
Lottie is a 9 year old cocker spaniel who may be part show type and part working type. She is white with ginger markings. Her owner has moved into sheltered accommodation so Lottie needs a new home. She is a loving dog who is a bit overweight. She is good with other dogs. Lottie can be possessive with items stolen from her owner. She travels well in the car and can be left for short periods.
Maisy is a 5 year old small black working type cocker. She needs a new home as her recall is now not reliable as a working gun-dog. Maisy is beautifully trained but has decided that she doesn't want to work anymore and wants to "do her own thing" instead of picking up!. She has a lovely temperament but has always lived in an outside kennel and will need some house training. She is looking for a new life as a family pet.
Blue is a 4 year old blue roan show type cocker. His family have a child with disabilities and they have no time to dedicate to Blue's needs. He is the "best dog ever" but he has a skin condition and needs to be bathed two or three times a week with a special shampoo. He has had allergy tests and has been to a specialist. Blue is good with children and with other dogs. He has not lived with a cat. He walks well on a lead. He becomes uneasy if approached in a rushed manner by a stranger and he will bark. He hasn't had much off-lead experience. He travels well in the car and can be left for short periods.
