Spaniels that have found their new forever homes during this month
Marley is a 4 year old Black and White Springer X Cocker. His owner is unable to give him the care and exercise that he deserves due to illness. Marley loves long walks and to play fetch with his ball. He is partially house trained and lives outside in summer and inside in winter. He would adapt easily to an inside life. He loves people and would be fine with teenagers, but has no experience with younger children. Marley has not lived with a cat. He is a bit wary of other dogs when on the lead, as he was attacked by another dog a couple of years ago. His recall is OK in an enclosed area, but his owner has been generally afraid to let him off lead. He may need some more training. He travels well in the car and can be left for short periods. Marley is available in Lincolnshire.
Ollie is a 20 month old liver & white Springer. He needs a new home as his owners are unable to give him the attention and training that a young Springer requires. Although Ollie lives with children and is good with them, he has been in two incidents with children where he has nipped. Ollie is now at our kennels and he is behaving well with the other dogs. He has not lived with a cat. He has been to our vets. All is OK but he is overweight. Ollie pulls on the lead and needs more training for off-lead exercise. He travels well in the car and can be left for short periods.
Bobby is a 2 year old Liver Roan working type Cocker. At present he is living with a dog trainer/behaviourist as his family are unable to manage his possessiveness over their belongings. His family home is a busy one with three teenagers. Bobby is in need of a strict routine and a firm, strong owner. He is a loveable dog, with a very waggy tail, but he is very strong willed. He may be best in a very active home with another well adjusted dog to learn from. In the trainer's home he is living with three other dogs. Bobby has not lived with a cat. He pulls a bit on the lead. His recall is very good. He travels very well in the car and can be left happily for short periods.
Charlie Brown is a 5 year old liver & white Springer. Both his owners are now working long hours and Charlie Brown is being left on his own far too long. Charlie is excellent with children and is good with other dogs. He has not lived with a cat and will chase. He loves travelling in the car and going to be groomed and being brushed at home. Charlie likes to chase falling leaves and also flies and bees etc. He is good on a halti lead and will sit at a curb before crossing. His recall needs work. He was good until three years old but can now have selective deafness and must be kept on a lead near livestock as he will go towards sheep & cattle if he sees them. He travels well in the car and can be left for short periods.
Alfie is an 8 year old Liver and White Springer. He is mostly White and is a large Springer, who looks a bit like a Clumber Spaniel. He needs a new home as his owner has lost his job and has to move into accommodation where he can't keep a dog. Alfie is a well behaved friendly dog and although gundog trained is really more a pet. All he wants is to be fussed and loved. He is not house trained and has been living in an outside kennel - but would soon adjust to an inside life. Alfie is good with children, cats and other dogs and is OK around livestock. He is good on and off the lead, but doesn't enjoy car travel very much. He seems to get a nervous tummy so is in need of a local home with someone who doesn't travel around much - although medication may help for the occasional longer journey. He will need some dental work prior to rehoming.
Piper is a 7 year old Black and White Springer. Her owner has moved home and is not allowed to keep pets. Piper adores people and is used to older children. She has not lived with a cat and doesn't like other dogs sniffing her. She is good on and off the lead. Piper likes travelling in the car. She is looking for a home where she will have a lot of human company, although she can be left home alone for short periods.
Frodo is a 4 year old black & white Springer. He has come to CAESSR via another rescue as he is looking for an experienced Springer owner. We know that Frodo is house trained and was left very long hours in his previous home. He has quite a nervous personality and is unsure of strangers. It is best to let him approach you first and gain his trust. He is quite nervous initially too when in unfamiliar surroundings. He has lived with other dogs in the past and shows sociable behaviour towards canine companions. He is a typical Springer with high energy and enjoys being off lead. His recall is not great apart from when he is playing ball - but he does become bored and tends to wander off to chew the grass!
Grace is a 6 year old Chocolate working type Cocker. She needs a new home as she has started to escape from her garden. We suspect that she knows how to open the gate to her kennel and run. Though she is house trained, Grace generally lives outside when no-one is at home and at night time. She is brought inside if the weather is very cold. Grace has been around children all her life and is very good with them. She is good with other dogs and lives with a Lhaso Apso - who sometimes follows her when she escapes! She has not lived with a cat. She pulls initially on the lead and her recall is good. She travels well in the car and can be left for short periods.
