Spaniels that have found their new forever homes during this month
Shire is a 19 month old Black working type Cocker with a White chest. His family have a 4 year old child, who annoys him, and Shire hasn't the patience to cope with her. He may be best homed with no younger children. Shire loves to be cuddled. He will bark at birds and he shows little interest in the family's cat. Shire is good with other dogs, but hasn't socialised much with them. He is generally good on and off the lead. His family use a harness and, if off lead, he can occasionally have selective deafness if following a scent. He travels well in the car (in a cage). Shire has shown at kennels that he can be a bit obstinate! He hates the vacuum cleaner. He can be left for short periods.
Gilly and Tally are Liver and White show type Springers, who are mother and daughter. Gilly is 9½ years old and Tally is 6 years old. Their owners spend almost half of the year out of the country. Gilly and Tally are spending a lot of time in kennels, which is not fair. They are very loving dogs and are looking for a new home together. They are excellent with children and are very well behaved. Tally can be a bit timid at times. They are good with other dogs, but have not lived with a cat. They are used to living in a rural area and are OK with livestock. They are excellent on and off the lead. They understand "Heel" and will return to the whistle. They travels well in the car and can be left for short periods.
Bertie is approximately 6/7 years old and is a Black and White Springer. He needs a new home as his owner is working longer hours and Bertie becomes extremely distressed when left home alone. He is brilliant with children and is a wonderful affectionate dog. He loves to be with other dogs, but hasn't lived with a cat. Bertie is blind in one eye, but this causes him no problems. He loves his walks and to play fetch with his ball. He is great on the lead and if off lead walks right beside you. He loves a run on the beach. He travels very well and is urgently looking for a loving new home.
Sky is an 8 year old Black and White Springer. Over the past 7 - 8 months Sky has grown very anxious when left home alone and becomes destructive. Her family have tried doggie day care, which she loved, but they cannot afford the cost of using this facility five days a week. Sky is a lovely dog, who is used to children and enjoys canine company. She hasn't lived with a cat. She loves retrieving a ball. She will make a high pitched noise if she sees a hedgehog and will try to attack it. Sky is good on and off the lead. She understands "Heel", but is best walked on a harness. She travels well in the car.
Jake is almost 7 years old and is a Liver and White Springer with a docked tail. One of his owners has sadly passed away and the other is finding it difficult to give Jake the exercise that he needs. Jake has loads of energy and loves chasing balls. In the home he is very placid and quiet. He loves children and has lived with children in the past. He is used to cats and has lived with another Springer in the past. Jake can be a bit wary of some other dogs if they come too close to him when out walking, but is good with other dogs when he gets to know them. He pulls initially on the lead and his recall is very good. He is very good at the groomers. He has one little fatty lump and he had a problem a year ago with a slight limp on one hind leg, but has been OK since. Jake travels well in the car, but hasn't had much experience. He can be left for short periods and is allowed the run of the house.
Biggie is a 10 year old Black, White and Tan show type Cocker. One of his owners is very allergic. He was originally their daughter's dog. Biggie is a lovely friendly dog, who is a little arthritic and a little deaf. He is very good with hand signals. He is brilliant with children and good with cats and other dogs. He walks well on the lead. His recall is OK if he sees and hears you. He travels well in the car and can be left for short periods. A permanent foster home is sought for Biggie.
Ernie and Layla are about 15 months old and are Liver and White Springers. We think that they are litter brother and sister and they are looking for a rural home together as they seem to be very bonded. Ernie and Layla were found wandering about a month ago and were taken to a vet and now are with CAESSR. They are beautiful loving dogs, who are good with other dogs and have met children whilst in the care of the vets. They seem to be house trained but we don't think that they have lived inside much. Layla loves her tennis ball and can retrieve and Ernie loves his football. Their recall seems to be good and they travel well in the car.
Charlie is almost 5 years old and is a Ginger working type Cocker. Charlie is a bouncy Spaniel. He needs a lot more time and exercise than his family can give him due to a very sick parent and a child who needs lots of time due to special needs. Charlie is good with children, but would knock over young ones. He is good with other dogs, but has not lived with a cat. He pulls a lot on the lead - his family use a gentle leader or halti. His recall is excellent. He travels well in the car and can be left for short periods. He is only used to being left a couple of hours.
