Spaniels that have found their new forever homes during this month

BUDDY

BUDDY

Buddy is almost 4 years old and is a large Liver and White Springer with his full tail. His owner is going through a divorce and Buddy used to be very much her husband's dog. Her husband used to walk him. Buddy pulls a lot on the lead as he is a strong dog and his owner struggles to cope. She is also working two jobs and leaving Buddy extremely long hours. He is spending his time shut in the kitchen and is beginning to guard it if strangers come into the home. Buddy is good with the people and children that he knows, but he is very nervous around strangers - growls and barks, but he has never bitten. He is not used to cats and has not been socialized much with other dogs. If off lead his recall is sometimes good. He travels well in the car and is good when left home alone. His owner thinks that she is creating Buddy's problems and he would be a different dog in the right home.

BERNIE

BERNIE

Bernie is a 4 year old Black and Tan working type Cocker. His owner is working long shifts and is unable to give him the attention and exercise that he needs. Bernie is used to children and has lived with another dog. He has not lived with a cat, but has seen livestock. He pulls to begin with when on the lead and then settles down. When off lead he tends not to go out of sight and the word biscuit tends to bring him back. He travels well in the car. He always had the company of another dog when left home alone and Bernie is an early riser!

CHARLIE

CHARLIE

Charlie is a 9 year old Liver and White Springer. He has come to CAESSR as he has started to growl at the child in the family. We are urgently looking for a quiet, stress free, fairly local foster home for him as he now has epilepsy. He fits about once a month and is not on any medication. Charlie is house trained and can be left just for very short periods and he does not like to be shut in a room. He needs to be the only dog in the home. He has lived with a cat. He sleeps in the bedroom at nights in his own bed. Charlie pulls a bit on the lead. He is quite good off lead, but is wary of some other dogs and will run back to the car. He travels well in the car.

MAGGIE

MAGGIE

Maggie is almost 6 years old and is a Blue roan show type Cocker. Her owner is now working long shift hours and it is unfair for Maggie to be left home alone - although she is good. She is used to children and is used to being the only pet in the home so she has no cat experience. She is good on and off the lead and is friendly towards other dogs outside the home. She travels well in the car.

MILLIE (was Coco)

MILLIE (was Coco)

Coco is almost 2 years old and is a Chocolate and White working type Cocker with a docked tail. Her owners are finding it too hard to cope with her anxiety problems. Coco will bark at some strangers and is very anxious around strange dogs. She is OK with the visiting grandchildren that she knows and will play with the daughter's male Dachshund when he visits. She has achieved her Good Citizen Bronze Award. Her owners think that Coco needs a stronger leader in order to overcome her confidence problems. Coco is not used to cats. She is good on and off the lead, but her owners avoid other dogs if she is off lead. She travels well in the car. She has only been left home alone for a couple of hours, but again she is quite anxious.

JAKE

JAKE

Jake is a 20 month old Springer x Cocker. He is Liver, White and Grey. His mum is a Liver and White Springer and his dad is a Sprocker. Jake is living with his doggy mum and dad and his brother from another litter and his owners can no longer cope with all the dogs. Jake needs more exercise and attention and is a very excitable dog. He is good with children, other dogs and cats. He sleeps in the conservatory on an old sofa with the other dogs. He has a brilliant recall and is hardly ever walked on a lead. He is taken to woods and parks by car for exercise. He travels well in the car and can be left for short periods with the other dogs.

POPPY

POPPY

Poppy is a 3 year old Black Springer x Cocker. She was handed in at a vets as an unwanted dog. CAESSR is looking for experienced owners for Poppy with no young children and plenty of time to work with her as she is unsure around other dogs. She appears to be well socialized around people and enjoys lots of fuss and attention. She would chase cats and she barks at livestock. Poppy seems to be OK with the other dogs at our base but needs to be the only pet in a home. When walking on the lead towards another dog Poppy will bark until it is out of sight. On occasions she will initially freeze then barks and tries to spin around. She has started to walk better on the lead on the left hand side with rewards and praise when she doesn't pull. Poppy has had an injury to a leg in the past. When settled in a home CAESSR will pay for a cruciate repair if it is required.

SAMMY

SAMMY

Sammy is almost 3 years old and is a Liver and White Springer. The people that handed her in to us rescued her from a puppy farm three months ago. She is a very loving dog, but very frightened and goes into the submissive position when she feels threatened and she can snap. She panics when you go to put a collar and lead on her - she has possibly been regularly tied up. A gentle approach is needed. She has recently had a litter of puppies and has now been spayed. She has been living outside so needs to be house trained - although she is very clean in the kennel. She was living outside with the people that rescued her and she did come into the house when the son was not around. She was terrified of the son and she wouldn't let him take her for a walk. Sammy needs owners who can offer lots of patience and TLC to build her confidence. CAESSR's experience tells us that Sammy may need to live alongside another well adjusted gentle dog.

Sammy is getting on very well at our base and her confidence is growing. Care still needs to be taken if you approach her from behind and she doesn't see or hear you.
