Spaniels that have found their new forever homes during this month

DOUGHNUT (now Oscar)

DOUGHNUT (now Oscar)

Doughnut is almost 3 years old and is a Golden show type Cocker. He needs a new home as he has snapped at the owners' 20 month old daughter as she tried to cuddle him. He is normally a joyful, good natured and fairly obedient dog. Doughnut is good with other dogs and has been living with a female cross-breed. The two dogs have had a couple of scuffles in the last two months. He has not lived with a cat. Doughnut pulls on the lead, however he is very obedient when off lead. He travels well in the car and responds to the normal commands - both in English and French. Doughnut is used to someone being at home most of the time.

HARVEY

HARVEY

Harvey is just 9 years old and is a black working type cocker with a white chest. Harvey is very energetic - only just starting to slow down a bit and is extremely intelligent and loyal. He has been living with a female springer and has always been quite protective of her. The family now has very young children and have children visiting and Harvey has barked and snarled at a visiting child. He has never bitten anyone. Harvey is now looking for a new home where he will have more attention. He does pull on the lead but is brilliant off lead and can retrieve. He has not lived with cats. He travels well in the car but gets excited when going to the fields. He had operations on both knees as a pup but they have never been a problem since.

LOUIE

LOUIE

Louie is a 7 year old Lemon and White working type Cocker. He needs a new home as his family are moving with their job into a flat. Louie is good with other dogs and has been living with a female Springer. He may need the company of another dog as, when he was young he suffered from separation anxiety. He is used to children, but is not trustworthy with them and has nipped. He is not used to cats. In the past, louie has also bitten when being chastised for stealing food and has growled at the lady of the house, but is always obedient for her husband. Due to young children in the family Louie lives in the porch with access to the garden all day. He is generally fine when off lead and is good on the lead he also travels well in the car.

BAILEY

BAILEY

Bailey is an 8 year old Black and White show type Cocker Spaniel, with her full tail. She is quite a small dog and is still very energetic. Her owner has taken over a new public house and the work-load makes it impossible to give Bailey the attention she deserves. Bailey is good with children of all ages. She doesn't like cats and will tollerate other dogs, but would be best in a home where she is the only dog. She is very good on and off the lead. She travels very well in the car and can be left home alone for short periods.

CODY

CODY

Cody is an 18 month old Black and White Springer. He needs a new home due to a change in family circumstances. There is a baby expected and the small children in the family are too boisterous with him. Cody has a cleft palate (but you wouldn't know by looking at him), which he keeps quite clean and his front legs are slightly bowed. He can wee with excitement and he can also wee when he thinks that he has done something wrong. He had a previous home where the owner thinks that he was harshly treated. He is now normal weight, but needs to be given a good quality dried food. Cody has lived with a cat, but has not had much socialisation with other dogs. He pulls on the lead. When off lead he will generally come back when called, but he will run after bikes. He travels quite well in the car. Cody loves his toys, especially squeaky ones, and he loves going in the shower.

FUDGE

FUDGE

Fudge is a 10 year old Blue Roan and Tan show type Cocker Spaniel. He needs a new home as his elderly gentleman owner has passed away. Fudge is brilliant in the home and he is very good with children. Fudge has problems with one ear and is partially deaf, this needs regular drops to keep it clear of wax. Fudge is used to living with a cat. He pulls a lot on the lead and barks when he sees another dog. He has now been socialised with other dogs at our kennels. His recall is not too good, but it may be possible to let him off lead if he is with another dog. He travels well in the car. Fudge is urgently looking for a long-term foster home.

BARNEY

BARNEY

Barney is a 4 year old Black and White Springer, who needs a new home as his family have no time for him since they have had a baby. Barney is a confident dog, who is used to children. He has been living with another male Springer, but the two are not getting on. He tends to ignore other dogs when outside the home. He has been living with cats, but has been kept separate from them. He is house trained, sleeps in the kitchen and can be left for short periods. He pulls a lot on the lead and if off lead he will chase birds, but he will come back if you have a ball.

OLLIE

OLLIE

Ollie is a 5 year old Black and Tan show type Cocker. Since the arrival of their first child, the owners feel that they are unable to give him the love and attention he needs. Ollie has been living with a Westie and it is difficult to walk the two dogs together, whilst pushing a pram. Ollie is great with children, but seems to be a bit jealous of the baby. He has not lived with a cat. About two years ago both the dogs were attacked by a Rottweiler and Ollie can still be wary of large dogs. He pulls on the lead, but is getting better and his recall is generally good - he never goes out of sight. He travels well in the car. He can be left for short periods, but will howl for a minute or two. He is used to sleeping in his cage in the hallway with the door open.
