Spaniels that have found their new forever homes during this month
Maizie is a 7 year old Black and White show type Cocker. She needs a new home as she has become jealous of the crawling baby in the family. She is very friendly to grown-ups and stays away from small children. Maizie has not lived with a cat. She is getting better with other dogs but can sometimes snap at other dogs that sniff her too much. She is looking for a home where she will be the only dog. She has hip dysplasia and it is managed with an injection every six months, which works well. She is good on and off the lead. Maizie travels very well in the car and can be left home alone for short periods. Maizie is now urgently looking for a new home. CAESSR will help with the cost of the injection twice a year if it is necessary.
From our Dog Walkers: Maizie loves a ball and will drop it when told. She will come for affection, but on her terms and will lie on her own for periods. She is a lovely dog, never pulls on the lead and is great off the lead. She needs a lot of one to one affection.
JAZZ is a 2 ½ year old small black & tan show type cocker. She is a very pretty dog that people like to stroke - but she doesn't like strangers coming up to her. Her owners have an elderly female dog and periodically Jazz would attack this dog. She plays off lead very well with any other dog and has a great time but won't let visiting dogs into her home. Her owners have family with dogs and children and want them to visit so Jazz needs a new home. She is looking for experienced owners as she needs a home with no children, cats or other dogs. Jazz is good on or off the lead. She travels well and can be left for short periods.
From our dog walkers (Steve & Hazel were walking Scooby and Jazz)
Hazel took her away from Scooby as she growled and snapped at him. Jazz never showed any aggression towards Hazel. On a number of occasions, she placed her paws on Hazel's legs and wanted affection. We think she may be a ladies dog and doesn't like men or male dogs. Hazel was comfortable around Jazz.
BOBBY is a three year old black & white working type cocker. He needs a new home due to a change in family circumstances. Bobby is a lovely, friendly, lively boy. He had a problem with in-growing eye lashes when younger but this is now sorted. He is used to older children, cats and other dogs. He pulls sometimes on the lead. His recall is good and he will return to his name or to a whistle. He runs like the wind! He sleeps in his crate but is not shut in. He can be left for short periods and he travels well in the car.
JIMMY is a 7 year old Red working type Cocker Spaniel. He needs a new home as he has snapped at the one year old child in the family who put her arms around his neck to give him a hug. Jimmy has quite a nervous personality. Strangers need to let him approach them first for a pat until he gets to know them. Jimmy is generally a good boy. He is not food aggressive or possessive with items. He loves to play with the female cocker who he lives with & is not aggressive. He will be destructive with his toys though! He has not lived with a cat & he would be OK with older children. Jimmy has been taken to obedience and agility classes and is good with his commands. He was better at obedience. He doesn't like his photo being taken and is nervous of sudden noises. He is good on and off the lead - especially if you have treats. He travels well in the car and can be left for short periods.
MAISIE is an eleven week old black & white working type cocker puppy. She is mainly black with a little white on her chest & feet. She was bought by someone who wanted to train her as a working dog. However, when she was taken to the vet to start her vaccinations, she was found to have a cataract starting to grow on one eye. She was taken to the local pet shop where the owner was told that if she didn't take her she would be put to sleep. Maisie is now in a CAESSR foster home. She is almost house trained and is looking for a forever home.
DAISY is a six year old liver & white springer. She was living in a caravan park with her elderly lady owner who has sadly passed away. The owner of the park has brought Daisy to CAESSR. We know little of her history, but she seems to have a brilliant temperament. She has been clipped and bathed. Daisy is very obese possibly about 25/26kg. She hasn't been walked recently. We are told that she is nervous of men but she is OK with the kennel manager. She has a very 'smiley' face.
Monty is a three year old Liver and White Springer with a half docked tail. He is a very hyper-active dog, who is used to living mainly in an outside kennel. Monty would make an excellent companion for a working dog. We feel he wouldn't be focused enough to become a gundog or sniffer dog. He behaves impeccably in kennels. Monty is house trained and used to be brought into the home to sleep at night. However, he can be grumbly, but has never bitten and seems to prefer to be outside. Monty has not lived with a cat. He pulls initially on the lead and will return from a walk off-lead. His recall is excellent. He travels well in the car and can be left for short periods. Monty loves the open countryside and loves to swim.
Kobi is a 2½ year old Liver and White Springer (mainly White). The owners have a child who is allergic. They have also moved house and Kobi is left in a small area for most of the day. Kobi can be protective of the lady of the house. He can bark at strangers and dogs but is fine around people and dogs that he knows. He has behaved well at our kennels with the other dogs. Kobi is used to cats. He likes being groomed and loves water with a passion! He is good when off lead unless there is water around, but he pulls a lot on the lead and needs more training. He sleeps in the hallway. He travels well in the car and can be left happily for short periods.
