Spaniels that have found their new forever homes during this month
Poppy is an 11 month old Chocolate working type Cocker with a docked tail. She needs a new home as she is still having accidents in the house. Poppy is a lovely dog, but has a very anxious nature. She is insecure and lacks confidence and is looking for a quiet understanding home to overcome her fears. Poppy is used to children, but may be best with older ones only. She is used to cats and has lived with two other male dogs. She is used to sleeping in the garage and has access to the garden in the day-time. She walks well on the lead and her recall is good most of the time. Poppy travels well in the car. She really enjoys her food! She can be left for short periods, but has always had the company of other dogs.
Teddy is almost 10 years old and is a Golden show type Cocker. His owner can no longer manage to look after him since loosing her husband. Teddy is a lovely friendly dog, who is used to children. He was attacked by another dog when he was a puppy so is sometimes wary of other dogs. However, he is playing well with the other dogs at our base. He hasn't been walked off lead for a while due to his fear of other dogs and he can growl at another dog when out walking. Teddy has not lived with a cat. He travels well in the car, but doesn't really like being left home alone.
Findus (Fin) is almost 2 years old and is a Black and White show type Cocker with his full tail. He needs a new home as he is growling at visiting children and has leapt at them, although he is OK with the 7 year old child in he family. Fin is not used to cats. He is fine with other dogs if he is off lead, but can growl and bark at them when he is on the lead. He still pulls on the lead in spite of some training. His recall is good unless he is following a scent and then he is a bit slow in returning. He travels well in the car and can be left for short periods. Fin loves running on the beach and chasing the seagulls. He will need experienced owners with no young children.
Belle is a 5 year old Liver and White Springer, who needs a new home due to a change in family circumstances. She is used to children. She has lived with another dog and with cats and chickens. Recently, she has become a little grumpy when on the lead and has snapped at other dogs - possibly due to the change in family circumstances. She walks well on a slip lead, has fantastic recall and has been used for beating. She travels well in the car and can be left for short periods.
Domino is a 2 year old Black and White Springer, who needs a new home due to a change in family circumstances. She is used to children. She has lived with another dog and with cats and chickens. When on the lead she walks well to heel and has excellent recall. She travels well in the car and can be left for short periods.
George is a 10 month old Tri-colour show type Cocker. He came to CAESSR in March as he was chewing his hind paws and drawing blood - even when his owners were in the home. He had almost eaten away part of one of his toes. George had been homed at 8 weeks old and then returned to his breeder and then bought by his owners at 16 weeks. George has been in foster care since arriving at CAESSR. Our vet thinks that he was suffering pins and needles in his feet owing to a slight deformity on his spine. It then became a habit. After 4 months of constant bandaging George is now in a permanent foster home having had behaviourist help and many trips to the vet.
George still needs lots of veterinary care and is to become a CAESSR Sponsor dog.
Sandy is a three year old Black working type Cocker. He needs a new home due to a change in family circumstances and he is not getting the attention and exercise that he deserves. Sandy is used to children of all ages. He has not lived with a cat. He is good with other dogs outside the home. If off lead his recall is very good unless he is distracted by other dogs or birds when he will come back eventually. When on the lead he is energetic and will pull but is fairly well behaved. He travels well in the car and can be left for short periods.
Isla is a 5 year old Chocolate working type Cocker, who needs a new home as her owner is working very long shifts. Isla is used to children. She has lived happily with another dog, but has no cat experience. Isla pulls on the lead, but if off lead never wanders far away from you. She travels well in the car and can be left for short periods.
