Spaniels that have found their new forever homes during this month
Arthur is an 11 month old Black and White Springer. He is still showing puppy behaviour - jumping up and grabbing people around the wrist. He is not hurting anyone, but his family are finding it hard to break him of the habit, especially as they have young children visiting the home. Arthur is looking for an experienced Springer home with no children. He is a very affectionate dog, who likes to be with you. He loves his walks and to play games searching for things. He has not lived with a cat and is being socialised with other dogs at our base. He pulls on the lead, but walks better on a halti. His recall is quite good, but he will chase birds and run up to children and other dogs if he is in a park. He travels well in the car and can be left for short periods.
Katie is just turned 14 years old and is a Liver and White Springer. She was found left in an empty house and has been looked after by people running a local kennels. She is now urgently looking for a permanent foster home. Katie is a lovely friendly dog, who is good with children and other dogs, but she will chase cats. She is partly blind and almost deaf and needs to eat soft food as she struggles with her teeth. Her nails are very long, but this is being sorted by our groomer. Katie is good on the lead, but cannot be let off the lead due to her deafness. She travels OK in the car and can be left for short periods.
Katie is an extremely lively dog for her age.
Saddle is a 7½ year old Liver and White Springer. He is a fully trained working gundog, who would still be able to work for a bit longer. The owner says that he has been her best working dog - ever, and he will still run for miles. He is house trained and is used to living inside or outside. Sadly his owner is now ill with Cancer. Saddle is used to children of all ages. He is good with other dogs and is used to cats and livestock. He will need to be groomed prior to adoption and his teeth need a good clean.
Jasper is a 4 year old Liver and White Springer. He is very boisterous and requires a lot of attention and his family now have three young children. Jasper lives with an elderly female Cocker, who is blind and deaf and he tends to push this dog out of the way to get all the attention. Jasper had a pacemaker fitted about a year ago, which needs checking yearly. CAESSR will help with the cost of this if required. He would be OK with older children and he has not lived with a cat. He pulls a lot on the lead. He is very good off lead and comes back when called. He can be left for short periods. Jasper will need to be the only dog in the home. At our base he wants to possess all the balls and toys! He is a strong dog, who knows his commands, but you have to be firm with him.
Red is a 7 year old Chocolate and White Springer x Cocker. He is quite a large stocky dog. His owners are soon emigrating to Australia and don't want to put him through the stress of travelling and quarantine. Red is a beautiful dog who is very placid. He loves his long walks and to swim and to play in muddy puddles. He doesn't like to be parted from his tennis ball! He is used to older children, but can be wary of very young ones. He is good with other dogs and lives with a cat and the two play together well. Red pulls a lot on the lead, but is fabulous when off lead. He travels well in the car and can be left for short periods.
Scrumpy is a 20 month old Black working type Cocker. His owners are moving into accommodation where they are unable to have a pet. In the last month Scrumpy has become very unsettled due to family circumstances and has growled a few times at family members. On these occasions he was told to go to his bed and he complied. Scrumpy is an affectionate dog but he is not used to children. He is good with the other dogs at our kennels, but he needs to be the only dog in the home as he has quite a dominant personality. He has not lived with a cat. He pulls a bit on the lead, but does understand "Heel". He is excellent when off lead. He travels well in the car and can be left for short periods. Scrumpy is looking for an experienced firm male owner. He has started gundog training and is responding well. Scrumpy needs to be in a home where he will live in an outside kennel.
Fudge is a 3 year old Liver and White Springer, who needs a new home as he is not getting on with the other male Springer in the home. He is a lovely dog and fine with other dogs that he meets when out walking. Fudge is used to older children, but has not lived with a cat. He walks quite well on the lead, but needs some training for recall. His owners have started to use a whistle. He travels well in the car and can be left for short periods.
Chip and Lucy are both Liver and White Springers, who have always lived together. They are almost 11 years old - there is 4 months difference in their ages. They are a bonded pair, who are looking for a new home together as their owner has sadly passed away. Chip and Lucy are a really lovely pair of dogs - well socialised with children and other dogs, but they haven't lived with a cat. However, they both can be nervous initially when meeting new people and dogs. Chip will chew when stressed and suffers with separation anxiety and is quite thin. Lucy enjoys travelling in the car and will sit there all day if allowed. They are good on and off the lead.
