Spaniels that have found their new forever homes during this month
Daisie is a 3 year old Black and White Cocker x Collie. She is good with other dogs, but has not lived with a cat. She has grown up with the children and is good with them and sometimes her instinct is to herd them like sheep! She pulls on the lead. She is very good and obedient when off lead. Daisie travels well in the car and can be left for an hour or two.
Tilly is a 7 year old Liver and White Springer. She needs a new home as her owner is very poorly. Tilly is used to children and good with other dogs and cats. She has been a working gun dog and also a family pet. She is good on and off the lead.
Bonnie is a 5.5 year old Golden show type Cocker. She needs a new home as her retired owners want to get out and about and cannot find someone to look after Bonnie. Bonnie loves her walks. She is used to visiting children and is good with other dogs, but she needs more human companionship. She is wary initially, when meeting new people and is a little deaf at certain frequencies. She needs to loose a bit of weight. She is good on and off the lead. She travels well in the car and can be left just for short periods.
Rocci is almost 7 years old and is a Liver and White Springer. He needs a new home as his owner is very poorly. Rocci is used to children and good with other dogs and cats. He has been a working gun dog and also a family pet. He is good on and off the lead.
Charlie is a lovely 12 year old fairly large Black and White Springer. He was found straying and ended up at the local dogs home. His owner could not be traced and he was due to be put to sleep. He has a brilliant personality. He has been checked over by our vet and vaccinated. He just needs his teeth to be cleaned. Charlie was in a terrible state - his fur was so knotted that he found it difficult to walk. He was brilliant at the groomers and now enjoys himself running around in the paddock at the kennels. He is looking for a loving retirement home. Charlie is house trained, he is almost deaf, but does react to a whistle. He loves to play with a tuggy rope.
Ruby is a 2 year old Black working type Cocker with a tiny bit of white on her chest. Her owners work hours have changed meaning that Ruby needs to be left far too long on her own. She is good with children and good with other dogs. She has not lived with a cat. She is quite good on the lead unless she see a cat or a bird. When off lead she is sometimes stubborn and reluctant to return. She travels well in the car and can be left for short periods.
Beau is a three year old Liver and White Springer with a half docked tail. His owners can no longer cope with him as he is a strong, powerful dog with a strong hunting instinct. He is very quick and has killed squirrels, rabbits and a chicken and also the neighbour's cat. He has run into a patio window when seeing a bird in the garden. Beau is a very friendly dog, but needs a very experienced home. He has no experience of children. He is OK with other dogs. He is difficult to manage on the lead - his nose is always to the ground. When off lead his recall is good and he won't loose his owner, but he has damaged himself on barbed wire in the past. He travels well in the car and can be left for short periods.
Beau has a lovely temperament and will make a loyal companion. We think that he has been poorly exercised as when taken for a long walk he wanted to rest frequently. He is quick to learn restraint i.e. LEAVE and WAIT. Maybe his high prey drive is due to lack of exercise and stimulation. He is looking for an experienced owner with lots of time to give and with no small animals or children.
George (Georgie) is almost 2 years old and is a Chocolate Roan working type Cocker. He is a very loving dog, but needs someone who understands the working strain and lives in a more rural location. He was taken to try agility, but was too young at the time. George needs stimulation and something active to do. He lives with an older show type Cocker, who doesn't want to play with him. He also lives on a busy road and his owners find it difficult to walk him out of the gate as he barks and lunges at the cars. George is used to visiting grandchildren and when off lead at the beach or park isn't bothered by children. He is really good off lead and never goes far from you. He has not lived with a cat. He travels well in the car, but barks with excitement on reaching the destination. He is OK if left home alone for a couple of hours.
George needs a very experienced home. He would love to be with another dog, who wants to play with him. He needs to be watched when you are preparing food as he would steal if given the chance!
