Spaniels that have found their new forever homes during this month

BILLY

BILLY

Billy is a 16 month old Black and White working type Cocker Spaniel, with a half docked tail. He has so much pent up energy that his owners can't manage. One of his owners is disabled and the other has become very stressed. Billy is very good with other dogs and loves to play, but has not lived with a cat. He pulls on the lead, his recall is very good - he won't loose you!!! He travels well in the car. Billy loves people and is a great dog who is urgently looking for a new home. He needs to be kept busy most of the day. When it gets dark, Billy can become grumpy and has bitten. We have had his eyes checked for PRA, but his sight is fine.

JACK

Jack is a 4 year old Black and White Springer. He needs a new home due to a change in family circumstances. Jack was knocked over, last year, and broke both the bones in his front leg. He has recovered well, but does have a metal plate and screws in his leg. Jack has a comfort toy - part of a leather football that he carries around everywhere. He is used to children, cats and other dogs. He walks well on the lead, but doesn't like the cars. He travels well in the car, but has to be lifted in. His recall is good and he can retrieve.

TOBY

TOBY

Toby is a 12 month old working type Cocker. He has had two homes already in his short life. In his first home, his owner was allergic and his second home has a pack of dogs and Toby is not good with other dogs, although he has spent time with other dogs at our base and has been OK. He is spending time with our trainer and will soon be ready for a new home. As a young working type Cocker he will need lots of exercise and stimulation and a purpose in life, to wear him out e.g. with someone who does a little beating. Toby is brilliant with children, but has not lived with a cat. He is fairly good on and off the lead. He travels well in the car. He was barking a lot but our trainer has now addressed this.

DEWI

DEWI

Dewi is almost 1 year old and is a Black and White Springer / Cocker X. He is nervous of being touched by the children in his family, especially if they surprise him. He is also nervous of strangers moving into his space and also of going out in the dark. He can nip strangers as they walk away. Dewi was in an accident when he was 5 months old and lost his front leg. No-one has told Dewi that his leg is missing - he is just as able as he was before the accident. He is good with other dogs, but has not lived with a cat. He pulls on the lead. He loves being off lead and is very obedient. He is an amazing swimmer. He travels OK in  the car, but doesn't like being in the back of an estate car.

CHAS & AMBER

CHAS & AMBER

CHAS & AMBER are 9 year old litter brother and sister show type Cockers. Chas is black and Amber is orange roan. They are beautiful dogs and are looking for a home together as their owner is moving into rented accommodation. They are used to children of all ages and are good with other dogs. They have not lived with a cat. Chas and Amber are good on and off the lead. They travel well in the car and can be left for short periods. Their coats are in very good condition. Amber has a small fatty lump on her back and needs her nails checked regularly as they grow sideways.

LILLY

LILLY

Lilly is almost 2 years old and is a Liver and White Springer. She needs a new home as she just can't settle with the two other dogs in the family. She seems calmer when on her own and is a very affectionate dog. She is used to children of all ages and is used to cats. She has been trained to the whistle and is good near livestock and if off-lead is obedient. Lilly pulls on the lead, but is better on a harness and can be "barky" with other dogs if they are off the lead, when she is on.

TEFA

TEFA

Tefa is an 8 year old Liver and White Springer. He needs a new home as his owner has started a new job, which means that he will be on his own all day. Tefa doesn't like to be left on his own for a long time. He is blind in his right eye and has partial cataracts in his left eye. Tefa is good with children, cats and other dogs. He pulls initially on the lead and he is good when off lead, but will panic if he can't see you. He travels very well in the car in a harness and likes to sleep upstairs close to his owner. He has a couple of lumps on his front legs, where he has chewed them when stressed.

BEN

BEN

Ben is a 4 year old show type golden Cocker Spaniel who needs a new home as he is fighting with a male bulldog in his family and a young child was hurt. Ben has had four homes in his life and may have been mistreated in the past. He has spent some time with our trainer and is now looking for a home. He would be best with a single person as he guards his person against other people. He would need to be put out of the way from visitors. He would also be happy in an outside kennel. Ben is good with other dogs but has not lived with a cat. He is very good on the lead and will walk to heel if told. He is good off lead and will come back when called or to a short whistle. He can be left home alone for short periods.
