Spaniels that have found their new forever homes during this month
Woody is a three year old Liver and White Springer. Woody's owner has sadly passed away and due to her relatives long work hours they are unable to give him the life that he deserves. Woody is good with children. He is quite a timid dog until he gets to know you. He is OK with other dogs that he meets outside the home. When off lead he really loves you to throw his frizby for him. He has excellent recall, but pulls a little when on the lead. He travels well in the car. At present he lives outside in his kennel, where he stays all day (as the cats live inside). However, he is house trained and used to live inside.
Rosie is a 9 year old Blue Roan show type Cocker. One of her owners has developed allergy problems so Rosie is in need of a new home. She is brilliant with children and she is used to cats and is good with other dogs. Rosie doesn't like being left home alone and she will howl if she can hear a noise. She is good on and off the lead and travels well in the car.
Geordie is a six year old chocolate & tan large working type cocker with his full tail. Geordie's owners feel that they are no longer able to give him the life that he deserves. He is an active dog who likes to be with other dogs. His owners can't give him long walks and lots of activity. Geordie is showing signs of stress and is chewing his paws and scratching his ears and making them sore. He is brilliant with the owner's grandchildren. He hasn't lived with a cat. He pulls on the lead. He is very good when off-lead and enjoys a swim. He travels well in the car and can be left for short periods. Geordie is looking for a strong and experienced pack leader to give him confidence and activity.
Geordie has been to our vet to have his ears checked. They confirmed that nothing seemed to be wrong. He has been given some tablets that seem to be working. Geordie doesn't show this habit when he spends time with a dog-sitter and his dogs.
Jakey is a 3 year old Chocolate working type Cocker. His owner is emigrating to Spain and has discovered that her new accommodation does not allow her to keep a dog. Jakey has his passport. He is a very boisterous dog, who is good with other dogs, but has no cat experience. He is used to visiting young children. He pulls a bit on the lead, especially when excited. His recall is good. Jakey travels well in the car and can be left for short periods.
Dexter is a 3 1/2 year old Liver Roan working type Cocker. His owner is now working long hours and has no time to give Dexter the active life he used to have. Dexter is a well behaved but very active dog. He is good with his owners nieces and nephews. He is very playful with other dogs but has not lived with a cat. He is good on and off the lead and will recall on whistle. He gets excited when put in the car to go on a journey and he can be left for short periods.
Pepe is a 2 year old black and White show type Cocker. He has been taken from a home by the dog warden after complaints from neighbours that too many dogs were being kept at the same home. Pepe is good with other dogs at our base and plays well with them. He is a little shy when first meeting new people. We are not sure if he is house-trained. He has been taken to our vet for a health check and has been treated for fleas.
Fleur is a 17 month old small black working type cocker. She needs a new home due to her owner's illness. Fleur is a very active little dog and needs stimulation. She is a very clever dog and could be trained for agility. She is used to children and good with other dogs but has not lived with a cat. She pulls on the lead. Fleur has a habit of barking at and chasing birds if off lead. She travels well in the car and is left out in the garden when her owner is at work.
Marley is looking for a new home as his owner is working longer hours with extra travelling and his wife has a chronic disability. He is a 2 year old Liver and White Springer. He is a lovely dog, but has a nervous personality. He is nervous around humans that he doesn't know and with other dogs, especially large ones. He will cower or hide behind his owner. He has a loud bark when displaying anxiety. Marley is brilliant with children. He has no cat experience. He pulls on the lead. When off lead his recall is excellent. He really loves the lady of the house and can display some separation issues when left home alone. He is an anxious traveller on long journeys, but OK on short ones.
Marley's nervousness, when meeting new people, has improved greatly at our kennels. He needs experienced owners and will be a very loyal dog. He really loves teenaged children. He cannot live with another dog as he wants all his family's attention. He is now urgently looking for a new home.
