Spaniels that have found their new forever homes during this month

SWEEP

SWEEP

Sweep is a 5 year old large show type cocker who is looking for a new home as his owner has sadly passed away. He is a lovely dog who is used to children. He is good with other dogs and cats. He pulls initially on the lead with excitement. Sweep has brilliant recall and he travels well in the car. As he lived with an elderly owner, he gets very anxious when left home alone as he is not used to it. In kennels he is fine as he has other dogs beside him. He may enjoy living with another sociable dog. Sweep is on medication for an eye infection and he has slight entropion that doesn't need treatment at present.

BENSON

BENSON

Benson is just 7 years old and is a black working type cocker with white on his chest. He needs a new home due to a change in family circumstances. Benson lives with children and is brilliant with them. He is well socialized with other dogs but has no cat experience. He pulls on the lead. However, his recall is very good. He travels well in the car and can be left for short periods.

POLLY

POLLY

Polly is an 8 year old black working type cocker with white on her chest. Her owner has no time or money to care for Polly properly as she is expecting a baby very soon. Polly is a very affectionate dog who needs lots of cuddles but she is deaf and has separation anxiety issues. She will howl and whine. Polly has only been in her present home for a year. She had been used for breeding and had never previously lived in a home. Polly is very good with the child in the home. She would possibly benefit from being homed alongside a quieter mature dog. She has no experience with cats. She walks nicely on the lead. She is learning hand signals and will come back if off lead in a safe place. She travels well in the car.

ALBERT

ALBERT

Albert is a 4 year old liver & white springer. He needs a new home as his owner is now needing to work long hours. The owner's daughter used to help with Albert's care but she has moved out of the family home. Albert has not had much contact with children and he is used to living as the only dog. He has no cat experience. He is a lovely dog who pulls a bit on the lead and his recall may need re-training. He travels well in the car and can be left for short periods.

JESSICA

JESSICA

Jessica (Jess) is a 17 month old liver & white springer. She needs a new home as both of her owners need to work full time. Also, the couple live in a one bed flat with not a lot of space for such an energetic dog. Jess has met children. She is used to other dogs but has no cat experience. She pulls a lot on the lead - so will need more training. Her recall training is progressing very well. She travels well in the car. She has been left home alone for 3 or 4 hours but she is crated. She wriggles around a lot when her lead is being put on. Jess is looking for an experienced springer home who possibly only need to leave her an hour our two home alone

SQUIGGLE

SQUIGGLE

Squiggle is a 7 year old liver & white springer. He needs a new home as both his owners are working long hours. He has been with CAESSR for a while but he is now living in a foster home.

We have been fostering squiggle for the past six weeks and can honestly say he is a charismatic, loving, and fun dog. He is a typical spaniel that will do anything for a ball or a bone and will play day and night if left to him. He travels well and we have taken him trips to Wales and the Lakes without any problems. We have been training him to walk on a lead and with a little correction he is ok. His basic obedience is very good. Off the lead he responds well to recall and other commands and is getting better the more we get to know him.  He is also good when left home alone. In the beginning Squiggle was quite shy with people but has responded well to training. We now have regular visitors and although he barks and growls a little when they arrive he soon settles and within minutes he is usually having his tummy tickled or playing ball with our visitors. He is very shy of other dogs but we are about to start more training with this and hoping he will respond just as well as with people. Squiggle is now getting used to the big world again after a long period at the kennels and hopefully this is a new start to Squiggles life which he deserves. He is a great dog!

We have been supported by CAESSR's dog behaviourist and there is a management plan in place for Squiggle's rehabilitation and potential new owners will have support from the dog behaviourist and foster family to continue his progress.
