Spaniels that have found their new forever homes during this month
Oscar is a 7 year old Liver and White Springer. He needs a new home as his owners work full-time and their parents are no longer able to manage him in the day-time. Oscar needs a firm pack leader and a home where there are no children, other dogs or cats. He is good with other dogs outside the home. Oscar likes a lot of exercise and has gained his Silver Agility Award. He pulls on the lead at the beginning of a walk and then settles and his recall is good. He can be left happily for short periods and travels well in the car. Oscar is a brilliant and well behaved dog and he is urgently looking for a new home.
TANGO is about 3-4 years old and is a very handsome Orange Roan Brittany Spaniel. He came to us as a stray from a dog pound, so no known history. He appears to have a good temperament, very friendly and travels well in car. He is very full of life so needs plenty of exercise. He has a very short docked tail. During his stay with us we will endeavour to assess him to be able to give a fuller report to any enquirer.
Peggy-sue is a 4 year old Liver and White Springer. She is a very hyper-active Springer and her owner can no-longer manage to give her the attention she deserves. Peggy-sue is good with children of all ages and has lived with a cat. She is good with other dogs, but can be protective around toys or food - not in an aggressive way but she gives a stay-away warning. She pulls on the lead, but is better walked on a harness. She is fantastic off lead and always comes back, especially if you have a ball. She has also seen livestock and is OK. Peggy-sue loves travelling in the car, however she doesn't like being left home alone. She will howl continuously until you return. She is looking for a home where someone is around most of the time.
Logan is an 8 year old Liver and White Springer, who needs a new home as he is jealous of the new baby in the family. Logan loves affection and being round his owner and would be OK in a home with teenaged children. Although he has been living with another dog, we have found that he is a little grumpy with the dogs at our base. He possibly needs a home where he is the only dog and can get all the attention! Logan has not lived with a cat. He is good on and off the lead, but likes to chase pheasants and ducks and he loves water. He can be left home alone for short periods and travels well in the car although he barks at passers-by.
Jess is an 8 year old Liver and White Springer, who needs a new home as her owners are expecting a baby and Jess doesn't like young children. She is OK with teenagers. Jess used to be a Forces dog. She is good with other dogs, but does not like cats. She is a very loyal dog, who likes to lie under the dining table. She tends to bark a lot and to have selective deafness, sometimes when off lead. Her hearing may not be too good, but this is being checked. She pulls a little on the lead, but will heel if told and if off lead, she loves to play in water. She can be left home alone for short periods - but she does like to tear up paper. She travels well in the car. She has a few fatty lumps that have been checked by a vet and also a little arthritis in one back leg.
Molly is a 4½ year old Black and White working Cocker. She needs a new home as her owners have bought a puppy and Molly has become dominant and bitten her owners a few times. She cannot be trusted around small children and she will chase cats. Molly is house trained and can be left for short periods. She pulls on the lead and needs more training to walk to heel. She will retrieve a ball, but wont release it for you to throw again. She is an excitable traveller and can bark at other dogs if they get too close to her car. Molly has spent some time with our trainer, who has worked with her dominance problems and she is now looking for a family, who can give her lots of attention, exercise and stimulation.
Pebbles is a 3½ year old Black working type Cocker. In his original home his owner became injured and couldn't walk him. For the past 6 months he has been living with a Pointer and Pebbles has become top dog. He needs a new home as his family want him to travel in the boot of their hatch-back car with the other dog in cages and Pebbles has snapped. He hates the boot of the car being shut. He was previously used to travelling in the foot-well of the car. Pebbles has not lived with a cat. He is used to children and bonded well with the baby in his previous home. He is good with other dogs and is mixing well at our base. He pulls a bit on the lead and is very good when off lead. He can be left home alone for short periods and is well behaved.
Jess is an 8 month old Black show type Cocker. She needs a new home as she has become possessive over toys and food and the children in the family are scared to play with her. She has started to bark and growl. Jess is good with other dogs, but has not lived with a cat. She soon becomes bored and needs lots of activity. She pulls on the lead, but calms down after a while and has been off lead and will come back if you use a treat. She travels well in the car. Jess is looking for a home where there are no young children and where someone is around most of the time.
