Spaniels that have found their new forever homes during this month
Whiskey is a 6 year old Black and Tan large show type Cocker. He is a really lovely boy, but his owner now has a baby and has a full time job working shifts and she just doesn't have the time to give Whiskey the attention and exercise that he needs. Whiskey is very good with children and is used to cats. He doesn't get on well with bigger dogs, but he is OK with the owner's Mum's Yorkshire Terrier. He pulls a lot on the lead. His recall is not good. His owner has tried many times, but he won't come back when off lead. He will need a large garden to run around in and someone who may be able to train his recall! Whiskey travels well in the car and can be left home alone for short periods.
Meg is about 6/7 years old and is a Golden show type Cocker. She was rescued two weeks ago by the owner as she was being kept locked in the kitchen all day and was never walked. However, Meg is not getting on with the owners' female Labrador, who is getting very upset. Meg has quite a dominant personality and due to her bad experience over the past couple of years is in need of one-to-one affection and attention. Meg is used to older children and is OK with cats. She pulls a lot on the lead. She hasn't had much off lead experience recently - but given a try she was "nose to the ground" and eventually came back. Meg is very food orientated. She will pinch food off work-tops and raid bins! She travels well in the car and can be left for short periods.
Toby is a 9 year old Golden show type Cocker and Holly is a three year old Chocolate Roan show type Cocker. Their family need to move into rented accommodation and are also working long hours and need a better life for the two dogs. The owners are desperate to find a new home for both dogs together. Toby is quite a nervous dog and tends to lean on Holly, who is more confident. Toby can be vocal towards other dogs and has been known to snap, but he is "all mouth" and just nervous. Both dogs are good off lead and OK off lead around other dogs. They can pull a bit when on the lead. Both are good with children of all ages and are used to cats. They can be left home alone for short periods, but have separation anxiety issues as at present they are being left for long hours. They are looking for a home where they will have much more human company and exercise. They travel well in the car.
Daisy is a 2½ year old Black and White Springer. She is a very loyal and affectionate dog. Daisy is looking for a new home as one of her owners is suffering severe depression. We think that Daisy is picking up on her owner's illness and wants to be close to her all the time, which is making matters worse. She continually barks if not allowed to sleep in the bedroom. If left home alone her owners give her a rawhide chew to guard till they get back and then she chews it. She can only be left very short periods. Daisy is very good with children and is used to playing with visiting dogs. She has not lived with a cat. Her recall is excellent, but she tends to pull on the lead. She travels well in the car.
Jonesy is a 4 year old Black working type Cocker, with a White chest. His owner used to be able to take Jonesy to work with him and his wife looked after him the rest of the time. His owner now has to work away from home a large proportion of the year and Jonesy misses the companionship. The neighbours have reported him as whining and barking when left home alone. He doesn't chew or destroy anything. The owners also have three year old twins, who need a lot of their time. Jonesy is OK with the children, but is not really interested in them. He loves fuss and attention from grown-ups and he is not getting his share of time, attention and exercise from his owners. He will follow his adult around and likes to lie on your feet. Jonesy likes other dogs. He hasn't lived with a cat. He is good on and off the lead. Jonesy loves his food. He is OK in the car, but doesn't seem to like travelling on motorways.
Cosmo is about three years old and is a chestnut coloured show type Cocker. Having been brought over to the UK as a puppy from Belgium her circumstances had changed so much that she was being kept in a cage in a flat by someone who neither knew or cared what to do with her. She was rescued in the summer from these horrible conditions by some university students. Cosmo has come on leaps and bounds since being rescued, but needs a country home with people who are around most of the time. She is excellent with other dogs and good on and off the lead. She is used to cats and is very affectionate towards children, when she meets them in the park. She travels well in the car.
Lottie is a 2 year old Red and White working type Cocker Spaniel, who is mainly White with Red ears and markings. The owners' daughter, who visits regularly, has bought a Cavalier X pup and Lottie has taken a dislike to him and has attacked him. She lives OK with two other male dogs, but the owners are now worried that she will be the same with very young children. She has a dominant personality and wants all the fuss and attention. She is looking for a home where she will be the only dog. Lottie is used to cats and has seen livestock. She will be good with older children. She is a very obedient dog. She is good on t he lead and can walk to heel. She is good when off lead and is used to running three miles, three times a week with her owner. She travels well in the car and can be left for short periods.
Bouncer is a five year old Black and White Springer. He needs a new home as his owner has passed away. He was left at a kennels as the owner's wife couldn't cope with him. Bouncer has quite a nervous personality and is wary of people (especially men) until he gets to know you. He tends to stand back and bark. He is very good with other dogs and seems to love children as he was good with the kennel owner's two year old child. We don't know if he would be OK with cats, but he took no notice of them at the kennels. He is a lovely boy who travels well in the car and behaves well at kennels.
