Spaniels that have found their new forever homes during this month

CHARLIE

CHARLIE

Charlie is a 5 month old Golden working type Cocker pup. His owner has discovered that she is allergic and cannot keep Charlie. Charlie is used to children and is good with other dogs. He is also used to cats. He pulls on the lead. His recall training has started and he is already good. He travels well in the car and can be left just for short periods.

BRANDY

BRANDY

Brandy is a 14 year old Orange Roan show type Cocker, who is urgently looking for a new home. His present foster carer needs to relocate to the USA, due to family problems and Brandy's vet has advised that he shouldn't travel. Brandy has separation anxiety issues and can only be left home alone for a couple of hours. He is now deaf. He is very good with children, other dogs and cats and he travels well in the car.

At present, he lives in Littlehampton, Sussex and the ideal situation would be for a home to be found in the south as his foster carer is unable to bring him back to CAESSR. Alternatively, we are appealing for somone to bring him up to Stoke-on-Trent as we coould find a local foster home. Brandy is a CAESSR sponsor dog.

Brandy came to CAESSR in 2012. His owner was taken into hospital. Brandy was left in the kitchen and the neighbours were feeding him. He was in such a terrible state that they persuaded the owner to surrender him to CAESSR and they paid for the pet taxi to bring him to us.

He was directed straight to our vet, who is used to dealing with RSPCA cases. He said that Brandy was the worst case of neglect that he had ever seen. His coat was completely matted. He had an infected lump under his chin, bloodshot eyes and bad teeth. In spite of everything, Brandy greeted the vet by jumping up and wagging his tail. Brandy was under the anaesthetic for three hours while the vet and two vet nurses removed his coat and attended to his lump and bad teeth. His coat weighed almost two kilos! He is now in foster care. His foster Mum says that he is running around like a spring chicken!

HOLLY

HOLLY

Holly is a 2 year old Golden working type Cocker. Her owner is now alone and cannot walk her properly due to mobility issues. Holly has had some contact with teenaged children. She has not lived with a cat. She hasn't had much contact with other dogs and sometimes will bark and back away when meeting them. Holly's groomer says she has a timid personality. She needs a lot of socialisation. She pulls on the lead and hasn't had her recall trained. She travels well in the car, but doesn't like going in the travel cage - although she does sleep in a cage at night. Holly can be left home alone just for a couple of hours.

BRODY (was Boffle)

BRODY (was Boffle)

Boffle is a 3 year old liver & white 'chunky' springer. He needs a new home due to a change in family circumstances. His owner is now disabled. Boffle is a good dog when given the right exercise. He is loving and loyal. He was rescued at 9 months old having had a broken leg mended with metal pins. He is fully rehabilitated. Boffle is bullying the 12 year old collie that he lives with and steals her treats. He is used to teenage children and he has lived with a cat. He is a bored dog who jumps up at visitors and will chew cushions and toys. He is submissive to other dogs outside the home. The dog walker can't cope with him any more as he pulls so much on the lead. His recall is good. He travels well in the car and can be left just for short periods.

BUDDY

BUDDY

Buddy is a 12 month old Black and White Springer. He needs a new home as he is continually barking at night. His owner thinks he is lonely, but can't have him upstairs as he suffers with asthma. Although Buddy is used to cats the owner thinks the the cats activity at night, in and out of the cat flap, is also disturbing him. Buddy is used to children. He is good with other dogs outside the home and may like to live with another dog. He pulls on the lead. His recall training is ongoing. He will run along beside you unless distracted by another dog or a scent, but is increasingly responding to a whistle. He travels well in the car and has only been left home alone for a couple of hours.

BOBBY

BOBBY

Bobby is a 7 year old White and Ginger working type Cocker. He needs a new home due to a change in family circumstances. He is a lovely dog, who is used to children. He is good with other dogs, but has no cat experience. He pulls a lot on  the lead, but is better if walked on a harness. He is excellent when off lead. He travels well in the car. He doesn't like being left in unfamiliar places - he will bark.

TAMMY

TAMMY

Tammy is a 6 year old Liver & White Springer who needs a new home as her owner is seriously ill. She is used to the owner's grandchildren and she is good with other dogs. Tammy has not lived with a cat. She pulls a bit on the lead but isn't on lead much as she can walk to heel. Her recall is very good. Although she has been a much loved family pet, Tammy has been gun-dog trained and has been a good "picking up" dog. Recently she now goes to lie down when she has had enough! She is a bit overweight and will be groomed prior to rehoming. She travels well in the car and can be left for short periods but has always had another dog for company.

Tammy has been to our vet for a health check and has been found to have a heart murmur, she will be having an ultra sound and x-rays.

Tammy has now had her heart operation and is recovering well.

TILLY (was Jilly)

TILLY (was Jilly)

Jilly is a 5 year old Liver Roan show type cocker. She has been taken from a home by the dog warden after complaints from neighbours that too many dogs were being kept at the same home. Jilly is good with other dogs but doesn't like other female dogs in her space. She is house trained and has been treated at our vets to have a mammary tumour removed. She is now looking for a special new home.
