Spaniels that have found their new forever homes during this month
Dylan is a 6 year old Chocolate working type Cocker. His owner has three other dogs - two of which are males and Dylan does not get on with either of them. He has attacked one of them over food and the other is a noisy 10 year old Cocker, who Dylan challenges for dominance. He is great with people and doesn't bother with other dogs outside the home. He is looking for a home where he will be the only pet. He hasn't had experience with children or with cats. He pulls on the lead, but is not bad if walked on a harness. His recall may need a bit of work as he suffers with selective deafness at times. He travels well in the car. He has not been left home alone very much as his owner is not working at present - previously he used to go to work with his owner.
Mabel is a 15 month old Golden working type Cocker, who needs a new home as the baby in the family is seriously ill and Mabel cannot cope with being left home alone while the family are at the hospital. She is used to children. Mabel is good with other dogs and has lived with a cat. She loves human company and travels well in the car. She is quite good on the lead and her recall is good.
Coco is 2 years old and is a Black and White Springer X Setter. She has been with her owners since February and they have struggled to socialise her with their very timid Maine Coon house cat. Coco is also a very timid dog, who may have been hit at some time during her short life. She is wary if you suddenly raise your hand. She seems to prefer the lady of the house and she is timid with people she doesn't know. You have to let her approach you first, before attempting to give her a pat. Once she trusts you she is a very affectionate dog. She is OK with other dogs at a doggy day-care and has been with children in a previous home. She is looking for experienced owners, who have the time and patience to work with her. Her recall is good most of the time. She loves travelling in the car and can be left home alone for a couple of hours.
Kohi is a 16 month old Chocolate working type Cocker. His owners are expecting a baby and feel that they will not be able to give him the attention and time that he deserves. Kohi is an extremely active dog and regularly runs alongside his owner, who likes to prepare for half marathons. Kohi would possibly enjoy living with another dog. He is used to children, but would knock over young ones as he jumps up when excited. He has no cat experience, but has seen livestock as he lives in a very rural area. He pulls a lot on the lead, but his owners have started to use a gentle leader with some success. His recall is quite good unless he is chasing ducks. He will return to his owner's whistle. He travels very well in the car and has only been left for a couple of hours and sometimes howls when the owners leave the home.
Tommy is about 2 years old and is a Liver and White Springer. He has come to CAESSR as his owners separated and both moved out of the home leaving Tommy completely home alone. He is a very friendly dog, but a bit nervous and depressed. He is a happy dog, when taken out walking and for a trip in the car to the vets. He behaved well at the vets and is socialising well with the other dogs at our base.
Honey is a 17 month old Golden show type Cocker. Her owner will be working abroad soon so Honey needs a new home. She is used to children and good with other dogs. She has not lived with a cat. She is quite good on and off the lead. She travels well in the car and can be left for short periods.
Oscar is a nine year old Liver & White Springer who needs a new home due to a change in family circumstances. Oscar loves the young grandchildren. He is good with other dogs but has no cat experience. When walking, he pulls a little on the way to the park. When off-lead his recall is brilliant. He won't let you out of his sight. He travels well in the car but he gets excited. He can be left home alone for short periods. Oscar is having his teeth cleaned prior to coming to CAESSR.
Hobby is a 12 year old Golden working type Cocker and Rowan is an 11 year old chocolate working type Cocker and they need a new home together due to a change in family circumstances. They have been living outside for a while and were house-trained in the past. They used to be working gun dogs. They are used to children, cats and other dogs. They are good on the lead. Rowan stays close when off-lead, but Hobby can have selective deafness if she is investigating a scent. They travel well in the car and can be left for short periods.
