Hi Ian & Di

I am writing to you with some very sad news. Our dog, Barney, passed away yesterday after a year long battle with cancer. We had him since he was 5 years old (and he made it to 13.5 years old) and he brought so much joy into our lives. We are grateful to the charity for placing him with us to care for him.

It was a very rare form of cancer to which there was no cure. However, we put him on chemotherapy which bought him some more time which we all enjoyed to the full as we both retired about 12 months ago. The first chemotherapy did not actually work but he was a great fighter and he bounced back when we tried another type of chemotherapy.

We were in close contact with the vet throughout this time and his advice was invaluable. He never complained when needles and drips were inserted and he quite looked forward to visiting the vets as there were lots of nurses fussing over him which he enjoyed immensely.

He had so much love for all people that he will be sorely missed by everyone that he came in contact with.

At the moment we are not looking to replace him as it will be a very hard thing to do but I think that we will get another dog in the future and may be back in touch with you when things are less raw.

Thank you again for all the great work that you do - the re-homed dogs are very lucky indeed.

Best wishes

Doug & Jill
